Podcast

Hello! For this week, I decided to listen to "Death County, PA" which is a podcast that deep dives into the recurring and unexplained deaths of people at Dauphin County Prison in Pennsylvania. The host of tis podcast is Joshua Vaughn, and he narrates the storyline in a calm, and monotone voice. He talks slow, but Vaughn's choice of delivery for this podcast is perfect for the information he is discussing. His tone, as well as speed displays the seriousness of the heavy topic, and pauses allow the listener to piece together information that they are given. I believe that a podcast was the best method to communicate the information that is given, as it allows the listener to be able to listen while doing other tasks.

I believe the intended audience for this specific podcast is people who are interested in true crime, people who seek justice for innocent people, and people who enjoy investigative journalism. This podcast is heavy emotionally regarding the topics that are discussed by the host, however the topics are very thought provoking for the listener. I believe that because of the type of podcast this is, I would only recommend it for a more mature audience.

The tone and presentation of a podcast can make or break it. The tone that a host is using will set the mood and is very important when it comes to how the ideas are being relayed to the listener. For my own podcast, I plan to adjust my tone to fit the topic I am discussing and using pauses effectively to allow the listener to create their own ideas while listening to my podcast. I also want to ensure that I am not speaking too fast or too slow, because that can also affect how the listener will interpret the information.
